METAL, PUZZY AND ALCOOHOL, all significant materials of metalheads like Max Kolesne of Krisiun, the true brutal death metal from Brazil!

You had just returned back from North American Possession tour with Dimmu Borgir, Cryptopsy and Diabolic. How that North American Possession tour was and what kind of relationship did you have between the other bands and how did you get the responses from the audiences?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THE TOUR WAS FUCKIN AWESOME! DEATH METAL IS VERY STRONG IN THE USA AND WE ALWAYS HAVE GREAT RESPONSES WHEN WE PLAY THERE. THE OTHER BANDS WE DID THE TOUR WITH -D. BORGIR, DIABOLIC, CRYPTOPSY - ARE VERY TALENTED AND PROFESSIONAL BANDS AND WE GET ALONG PRETTY WELL WITH EVERYBODY, WE BECAME FRIENDS AND EVERYNIGHT AFTER THE SHOWS WE DRINK BEER AND SMOKE BUDS TOGETHER.

What's your opinion on the scene in Brazil these days?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THERE ARE LOTS OF GOOD BANDS DOWN HERE, MANY TALENTED MUSICIANS, AND NOW THERE ARE MORE UNDERGROUND RECORD LABELS AND DISTRIBUTORS SUPPORTING THE UNDERGROUND SCENE. WE HAVE A STRONG FOLLOWING HERE AND EVERYWHERE WE PLAY IN THE COUNTRY THE TRUE DYE HARDS ALWAYS COME TO HAIL THE METAL HOLOCAUST. I THINK IN THE FUTURE THERE WILL MORE BANDS FROM BRASIL SOLIDIFYING THEIR NAMES IN THE WORLD UNDERGROUND.

Talk about Sepultura. Sepultura were the best death/speed thrash metal band in the past ...have more classic stuff such as Beneath the Remains, Bestial Devastation but now after Max quit, they change style for commercial like a hardcore/nu metal, something like that. What do you think about this; please give me your opinion.
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: WELL, I WAS A BIG FAN, I REMEMBER WHEN I BOUGHT THE SPLIT BESTIAL DEVASTION, AND THEN MORBID, SCHIZO AND BENEATH, ALL GREAT CLASSIC METAL ALBUMS. THEY INSPIRED US A LOT IN THE BIGGINNING. I GUESS EVEN BEFORE MAX QUIT THE BAND, AFTER THE ALBUM ARISE THEY TOTALLY CHANGE THEIR STILE. I STILL RESPECT THEM BUT IM NOT A FAN ANYMORE, I LIKE THE OLD SCHOOL METAL, THE SPEED, AGRESSION AND THE ROOTS OF PURE FUCKIN METAL, I TOTALLY HATE THIS NU COMMERCIAL BULSHIT, I CANT HEAR THAT!

Talk about "transform", many people worshiped Sarcofago, yeah, me too, but I think after their first album, they changed sound a lot. What do you think about them?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: I AGREE WITH YOU, I DONT KNOW WHY SO MANY BANDS RELEASE ONE OR TWO GOOD ALBUMS AND THEN THEY TOTALLY CHANGE STILE. IS IMPORTANT TO IMPROVE AND NOT KEEP REPEATING YOUR SELF, BUT YOU DONT NEED TO FORGET THE ROOTS, WHEN YOU LET THE ROOTS BEHIND YOU LOSE THE POINT, YOU GET LOST!

I read your biography and you talked about the most important two albums that influenced your band like Slayer's 'Show No Mercy' and Morbid Angel 's 'Altars of madness' .What do you think about the change of Slayer in the present?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THE NEW SLAYER REALLY DISSAPOINTED ME, I AM A BIG FAN FROM THE OLD DAYS! REIGN BLOOD, HELL AWAITS, SHOW NO MERCY, THOSE ARE THE REAL SHIT, CLASSICAL METAL! BUT NOW SEEMS LIKE THE GUYS ARE LISTEN TO THIS NEW CRAP AND ARE GETTING INFLUENCIED BY THAT. I DONT REALLY CARE ANYMORE, THE REAL DYE HARDS HAVE BEEN STABBED IN THE BACK A THOUSAND TIMES, SO FUCK THAT SHIT, REIGN BLOOD WILL RULE FOREVER BUT THIS NEW SHIT REALLY SUCKS.

For the big fan of Slayer, I think you got the huge influence from Dave Lombardo, right? What do you think about him? Who's your influence as a drummer?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THATS RIGHT, DAVE LOMBARDO IS ONE OF MY MAIN INFLUENCIES, BESIDES PETE SANDOVAL, GENE HOGLAN, NICKO MC BRAIN(FROM POWERSLAVE DAYS). DAVE LOMBARDO IS DEFINATELLY ONE OF THE BEST DRUMMERS OF THE WHOLE METAL HISTORY, AND I THINK SLAYER SHOULD KEEP HIM IN THE BAND CAUSE THERES NOBODY BETTER THAN HIM FOR THE SPOT, LOMBARDO IS ONE OF THE CREATORS OF SLAYERS STILE, HE SHOWED UP WITH THE SPEED, AGRESSION AND THE FILLS.

How do you feel that the album 'Conquerors of Armageddon' had Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal) accurate production for your band?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: WHEN WE RECORDED CONQUERORS WE TRIED OUR BEST, WHEN WE GO TO THE STUDIO TO RECORD AN ALBUM WE GIVE OUR BLOOD TO MAKE THE BEST WE CAN, I THINK CONQUERORS IS A GREAT ALBUM, TOTALLY BRUTAL, INSANE, FAST, 100% PURE FUCKIN METAL! WE HAVE TOUR WITH MORBID ANGEL IN DECEMBER-99, THAT WAS THE BEST TOUR FOR ME, EVERY FUCKIN SHOW I WAS BEHIND PETES DRUM KIT, WATCHIN HIM, HE IS A MONSTER, FLAWLESS, FASTER THAN A BULLET! IT WAS SUCH A GREAT HONOUR FOR US TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY WITH THE MIGHTY MORBID ANGEL.

I think sound and music in Ageless Venomous so differ clearer extremely tight drum and more fast brutal than Conquerors of Armageddon. How would you describe the musical progression between Conquerors and Ageless Venomous?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: AGELESS IS DEFINATELLY THE BEST ALBUM WE DID SO FAR, WE IMPROVED A LOT FROM THE CONQUERORS DAYS, BEFORE WE RECORD AGELESS WE SPENT HOURS A DAY PLAYING THE SONGS, REHEARSING EVERY FUCKING DAY, TRYING TO MAKE THIS ALBUM TO SOUND AS TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. BUT MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT WE WROTE THIS ALBUM WITH ARE TRUE FEELINGS, WE PUT OUR HEARTS AND SOUL TO WRITE BATTLE HIMNS OF PURE AGRESSION AND BRUTALITY. THE PRODUCTION IS DEFINATELLY MUCH BETTER THAN ON CONQUERORS, IS MUCH CLEANER AND THERES NO BLURRY PARTS. I THINK FOR SUCH FAST SONGS IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A CLEAN PRODUCTION, BUT FOR THE NEXT ALBUM WE GONNA TRY SOMETHING NOT TOO CLEAN CONCERNING THE PRODUCTION, THAT WILL BE CLEAN BUT WITH HEAVIER SOUND.

I listen your songs in the compilation and your lasted album, you added some acoustics part onto the songs. How the idea is came from?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: IT CAME FROM Moyses Kolense WHO IS A BIG FAN OF GREAT GUITARRITS LIKE PACO DE LUCI, JOHN MCLAUGHIN, AND OTHERS, SPANISH GUITAR AND MUSIC FROM INDIA ALSO INSIPERD HIM TO CREATE THIS TRACK.

Your album has distribution by Witchhammer Recs. in Thailand. How's going on with this distro?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THANKS FOR THE WORDS! TO TELL YOU THE TRUE I HATE THIS SHIT, THIS IS NOT METAL, IT DOESNT HAVE THE REAL METAL SPIRIT.

Are you happy with Century Media?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: FUCK YEAH DUDE! THEY TOTALLY SUPPORT US AROUND THE WORLD AND RESPECT OUR MUSIC, THEY NEVER TRY TO INFLUENCE OUR MUSIC STILE, THEY ALWAYS SAY THAT WHATEVER WE DO THEY WILL LIKE, CAUSE THEY TRUST US, THEIR STAFF HAVE MANY GREAT PEOPLE.

I think they're not a really death metal Label. Why you choose to ink with Century Media?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: THEY WANTED TO SIGN US AND SINCE THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND STABLISHED AS ONE OF THE BEST METAL RECORD LABELS WE AGREED AND SINCE 99 WE HAVE BEEN WORKING TOGETHER.

Krisiun continues to grow and mature with each release. You are becoming a very influential band and now others look up to you as you once did your influences. How does that make you feel?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: IT'S SUCH A GREAT HONOUR FOR US TO INSPIRED THE NEWER BANDS, WHEN WE STARTED BACK IN THE BEGGINNIG OF THE 90S THERE WERE NOT BRUTAL DEATH METAL IN BRASIL, WE WERE THE ONLY ONE, I REMEMBER ALL THAT CRAP OF FUNKOMETAL, GRUNGE (TOTALLY SHIT CRAP!), RAP METAL, EVERYBODY WAS FOLLOWING THAT SHIT, METAL WAS GOING DOWN, THEN WE SHOWED UP TO SMASH AND KILL ALL THIS CRAPY SHIT. AND NOW THERE ARE MANY BRUTAL DEATHMETAL BANDS, I HOPE THAT AT LEAST A FEW WILL SURVIVE.

I think, one factor that mad your band successful is the tours, long road to play around the world, meet the audiences. What do you think about this, you think tours are the one of the factor that pushes your band to success?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: WE LOVE TO PLAY LIVE, NOT BECAUSE WE ARE LOOCKING FOR SUCESS BUT JUST BECAUSE WE LOVE TO GET ON THE STAGE AND KICK SOME ASS, THATS WHAT WE LOVE TO DO, WE DONT HAVE DAY JOBS SO WE WANNA PLAY AS MUCH AS WE CAN, AND THIS EXTENSIVE TOURS MAKES US TIGHTER AND STRONGER AS A BAND. BESIDES THAT WE LIKE TO MEET THE METAL PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD AND GET CRAZY TOGETHER.

How's about your new material for the new album?
MAX KOLESNE | Krisiun: WE ARE WRITING THE SONGS AND I BELIEVE THAT IN THE BEGGINIG OF 2003 WE ARE GONNA BE READY TO RECORD. THATS GONNA EXTREMALY BRUTAL, FAST, SATANIC, BLOODY, REVENGEFUL DEATH METAL! KILL, KILL, LORD JESUS CHRIST!
