Carl Karlsson, who long lived in Swedish Metal Scenes more than ten years. He is the drummer of the band called "Grief Of Emerald" (Black / Death metal), Mastema (Black metal) Sarcastic (Black / Thrash metal), Author of Pain (Black metal) and other side project bands such as Mabe, Protector, Conspiracy.

How's going, man? How's your life in Sweden?
Carl Karlsson: Hi Sorn I have just start to rehearsing after my visit in Thailand. It’s very nice to be home and play on my drumset again; it’s not the same to train on pillows. My life in Sweden are very the same as anywhere. I am working on a biogas factory that produce biogas for cars and warming houses. After work do I drive to the rehearsing room and start to warm up before one of my bands arrives. I try to rehears as much I can so it is four times a weak, 5 hours per time. At weekends, if I don’t rehearse. I often go to concerts, spend my time whit my family and girlfriend, and working to restoration on a house.

You came to Thailand once a year and this is the second time for you, why do you want to take your vacation in Thailand, and what the best thing that attract you come to Thailand,man?
Carl Karlsson: Well Sorn, In Sweden we have a very bad whether. We have between October to April rain and snow most of the whole time; the temperature is between +10 to -10 degrees so the whether is shifting very much. The 3 weeks before we arrived to Thailand, we couldn’t se the sun because of the grey and cloudy whether.

As many foreigners do we go to Thailand because of the sun and the warm whether and for relaxation and a break from the work.

You had the drummer position in many bands just like Grief Of Emerald, Mastema, Protectors...please tell me, how the different of the drum line in the each bands?
Carl Karlsson: Well it’s very different actually. In Grief of emerald I use very much grind, bass drums, blast beats, endures and Rhythmic beats its more technical things to think about and very much calculation in the music. Plus it’s going real fast. In The protectors its more old school beats (basic beats) like one foot slow grind, and punk beats. And In Mastema is it more heavy metal kind of playing lots of rhythm. But faster. It’s very hard to explain.

When the people said "the drummer in the metal bands don't have any talents or any techniques, just grind grind grind,.that's it", what do you think,man?
Carl Karlsson: Well those people don’t rally now what they are talking about, If you want to be a god metal drummer you really must practice notes and do certain exercises for gaining endurens, speed, and accuracy. and this is both with you’re hands and feet. These exercises are basic and formed by jazz, rock, blues drummers thru many years. Is this just to grind?

I know, you write the lyrics in the Grief Of Emerald,.how about that,man? That’s related with the anti-Christ content, are you anti-Christ? And what do you think about the black or death metal bands who keep to write the lyrics about this thing?
Carl Karlsson: Well In the earlier albums it was the former drummer Fredrik Helgesson that writes the lyrics on the albums, but I am writing the most of the new lyrics besides Johnny Letho and Jonas Blom. The lyrics as you now are very anti-Christian, self destructive, and humanity destructive. Well we can say that we, and I am anti-Christian. We really hate this sick and weak religion because of the facts that they are molesting kids. Are sexual active whit them. They have lots of different community’s and practice lots of different and sick rituals. Like this Christian cult Jehovah the are killing kids if the are not pure, this means if you have any disease like sugar disease ore had a car crash and need any new blood, they are letting you die. This sounds really nice doesn’t it?

Well many bands is writing against Christianity and I think its very good that people say their thing about it, because if now one does ore say something about this sick shit its going to be continue. More black metal bands = better world. but i dont like those bands that change lyrics stile and dont want to here about their past.and say that we where only kids. You must stand for youre words!

How's about the Sweden metal scene? Do you have great bands to recommend?
Carl Karlsson: Yes many actually Nominon, Nifelheim, Suicidal winds, Bestial Mockery, Dismember, Talion, Blood banner, blackshine Sadistic Grimness, One man army and the undead Quartet, Karneywar. Watain. Lord Belial, Wolf, Necrophobic, Ram, Chtonium.
